Palud

Palud is a natural depression in the immediate vicinity of the sea, which, due to the inflow of water from the surrounding hills and plains and from springs on the northern side, turned into a swamp. After the increase in salinity, which was achieved by digging a channel from the marsh to the sea, it was inhabited by mullets and eels. The wealth of species and number of birds that live here permanently or occasionally is the most significant feature of this swamp.

A birdwatcher's delight: Palud is the only ornithological park in Istria with over 200 species of birds, and numerous spring and autumn migrations are a great opportunity to observe them. Since hunters do not enter the park, there is a rich habitat for pheasants, grouse and quail.

Information trails and center: Educational trails meander through the wetlands, complete with an interpretation center that offers insight into the local ecosystem.

Sunset Magic: End the day with a mesmerizing sunset over the marshes.

Palud promises a combination of natural beauty and cultural wealth, leaving an indelible mark on every traveler.
